    Without a doubt!

Computers are incredible tools for design, or analysing data. They don’t do much that a human couldn’t do in time, but they work SO much faster for things like building 3D models, or performing big, complex calculations.

Happily, for the foreseeable future at least, they will never have the imagination and problem solving capabilities of your brain! They can do sums, but they’re really quite stupid. So there’ll always be a vital role for you or I driving those wonderful computers!

Absolutely. And it’ll just be more so in the future. More and more computers will be integrated in every device possible. I bet you within 5 or 10 years you’ll have a computer within your toothbrush…

As for the why, it’s because they’re so useful for automation, among other reasons. We can do math calculations much faster than a few years ago, which lets us model things better (say stresses and strains in materials used to make bridges) which means things can be made faster, safer, and easier.
