It often is, but I think that applies to all jobs. There are busy times, slow times, fun times, and frustrating times just like anything in life. BUT, if you like your job, it makes it all worth it, so because i love engineering I’m quite happy to work hard as I think it’s worth it.

Sometimes! Because I work to maintain a system, things are fairy smooth sailing until something goes wrong, then it’s all hands on deck! It costs our company thousands of pounds an hour if the machine isn’t working, so we have to get it up and running again as soon as possible – that can mean some late nights and long days!

Apart from that, it can be physically quite hard too. I’m about six-and-a-half feet tall, but I have to work my way inside and underneath all sorts of pieces of machinery to get to the places I’m working…or we might have to lift and move really heavy pieces of equipment around!
